Tales of Adornment - Kits and Signed Copies Available

I am so pleased to offer not only signed copies of my book via my blog but also signed copies and a kit. I thought long and hard about how I wanted to go about selling my own book, going back and forth between offering a charm or wee piece of art. It was while I was looking over my author's copy that the lightbulb popped on. As my book is not only composed of pieces that are linked together via a tale but most importantly it is meant to be a learning tool. 

That said I feel the perfect compilation is composed of not only a signed copy of my book but also two silver hobnail bezels (one round and one oval both designed by my dear friend Susan Lenart Kazmer) as well as a craft size package of ICE Resin which will fill approximately 10 of the bezels like those provided in the kit. All items are shipped via USPS Priority Mail.

Tales of Adornment - The Cover is Chosen

It is official the cover of my book "Tales of Adornment"published by Northlight has been chosen and frankly the Designer Ronson has outdone himself and I am thrilled. While the process has been a long one (and I literally have no patience I am so excited) the day is drawing nearer when I can finally proclaim "my book is available for purchase". Until then I leave you with this amazing photo and promise of more treasures to come.

And So It Goes

Today I felt a little pang of sadness mixed with a grand happiness as I completed editing my manuscript. It is now out of my hands.

As I finished reading the last page I recalled a scene in Little Women in which Jo places a sprig of flowers into her string wrapped manuscript that she so excitedly completes. It seemed only fitting to honor a woman who so inspired me by placing my words within a streamer of silk ribbon (dyed in jacquard chestnut) and adorn it with a sprig of lavender. 

While today I am done with the words that compose Tales of Adornment tomorrow I will sit down to write a couple of articles and then perhaps focus on my second book proposal.

 

Writing

 
There is an unfiltered joy that consumes me when I engage in the act of writing. The thoughts that flow are often found deep within my heart and soul, while often times once on paper they are there for the world to see. There is a very freeing yet initmidating factor to this process. A total unveiling of who I am if you will can leave me feeling vulnerable. While I have no doubt there are many that feel this way I find we often do not speak of this facet of the process.

Alongside this raw view of who I am is the amazing and unparalleled knowledge that perhaps I have touched one person deeply; found a place within the heart of another. It is my hope encouragement and inspiration is gleaned when one looks upon the words that flow from my pencil (or in this case keyboard) or one views my artwork. 

Each day this past week I found myself full of anticipation as I awaited the arrival of the daily mail. Like a small child awaiting a special gift or a beloved waiting for a treasured letter I was filled with excitement when the fall of the mail slot echoed through the air. It was Friday when my wait became a memory; my anticipation was sated when in my hands I held a signed contract for my upcoming book.

For a moment I could only hold the crisp envelope within my hands soaking in the truth, taking notice of the sounds around me as I wished to memorize this moment to keep with me for the rest of my days. One of the two biggest goals I set for myself in my fortieth year has come to fruition and in the fall of 2010 I will see the fruits of my labor on a grand scale. I look forward to the coming days when I can share with you bits of insight I have gained on this new journey.
