In Grace - Final Giftaway of the Week

If nothing else it is my hope that this week has been full of remembrance for you all. May joy and grace fill your days and hope always live in your heart. Creating a Week As Art was quite an experience for me as it was not just about art work but about putting myself back in that very difficult time 10 years ago when the world seemed to stand still and a new reality was created. Through this a gentle, invisible hand if you will, guided me one which whispered leading me through moments I had not really intended to visit or relive. However, I am grateful beyond words for this opportunity and can only hope I honored the memory of this time sufficiently.

Within - Week As Art

Within us all are not only a great many things; amongst our attributes are the many dreams and hopes we carry within our hearts and souls. Today let one dream and one hope escape. Put it out into the world so it is not longer held tight within you. Free whatever it is so it might have a chance to come to fruition.

Whether you choose to place it onto a piece of paper or altered journal or perhaps give it a voice in a piece of artwork or jewelry put it into the world do not hold it within any longer. I promise you letting it go will allow you to accomplish your dream!

In Night - Week As Art

Today is the second day of my week depicted as art for the Create Mixed Media Site. While I explained in yesterdays post my intentions of depicting not only 9/11 but the days that followed I also feel it is very inportant to maintain my voice in the week to come; sharing techniques and information with you as well as well as having a giftaway. In many ways this is the best way I can think of to honor this most profound week of remembrance; for me it will be a week of giving and sharing.

September 12th is as vivid to me as the 11th. I remember searching for a bit stream of light; light that hopefully included hope. Perhaps one of the most difficult things about this dark week was my pregnancy. At home and 6 1/2 months pregnant with my love on the road was for a lack of a better word, was scary. I sought any ray of hope that could be found only to learn of more sadness.

From this grief rose an even greater desire to live a life full of beauty and grace. No more would I complain about empty things. I re-comitted myself to take in each moment, rush less and be aware of all things around me. While at times it is difficult to live in these moments I can tell you they are not few and far between but rather bountiful and often.

Remember

Last week I began the process of pondering this post - wondering if you will what to say and how to say it. Like many this day, 9/11 stirs memories within me of incredible sadness and frankly disbelief. When asked to depict this week as art for the Create Mixed Media Site I found that I was both thrilled and afraid at the same time. Thrilled as I find great solstice in working through feelings in an artistic manner and afraid that whatever creative piece came out of me it would not honor the day in a perfect manner. What did come to fruition contains bits of symbolism and hope while remaining simple and clear in it's message.

While it is easy to succumb to feelings of grief I think it is more important that we honor those who lost their lives, bathe ourselves in the unity that took place in the days following those horrible attacks and continue to prove that as a country we will not allow anyone group or person to destroy us. May we find grace in others and consistently move forward, instilling hope in our future. We live in a world where we are free to share our love, free to show our feelings, free to speak our voice and free to be, my hope is we all cherish and share this this in all the days we have yet to come.

In the next week I will share with you the 7 pieces I created to honor the day and the week that forever changed us all. My hope is in this is we will all pause, may we all use this week to re-instill the things we have lost within ourselves and may today be a day when your heart and soul remembers.
