Chic and Green

Nothing makes me happier these days then coming across green products that are not only completely eco-friendly but Chic. I swiped up every last one of these darling notebooks at Staples. A perfect place to add a wee bit of journaling and perhaps sketch a few ideas for the next issue of Green Craft which hits the news stands August 1st.

A Book of Memories

As I read the new Somerset Life I was simply overwhelmed by the beauty and deep commitment to inspired living that appeared on each of the pages within.  As always it was an honor to be included amongst the many talented artists.

Last year I was working on projects for Stampington's Holiday and Celebrations issue. During this process I was reflecting a bit and I realized the importance of the birthday books that I had put together in lieu of large scrapbooks which I had no doubt I would be unable to keep up with. I am constantly in awe of those who commit to such a project! Pulling the books out I relived moments and memories that are true treasures.

Staying true to my style I created a feminine book meant to record memories and wishes created during the first few years of a sweet little girl's life. Papers, baubles and german glass glitter fill pale pastel pages. While ribbon and cupcake papers adorn the cover.

Video Shoot

There are days when being an artist surpasses all others; Tuesday was one of them. My goal has always been to share as much beauty and joy with the world as possible through both words and artwork. Tuesday I had the pleasure of filming a series of three short videos with the delightful and talented Johanna - Director of Photography at Stampington. Needless to say not only was I excited for the opportunity but so honored to be asked to do this!

The final video of the day was an experience shared with my friend Jenny (Director of Publishing for Stamping ton) in which we talk about a new product to hit the shelves soon in the Shoppe at Stampington, my Heart Felted Sentiments and Charms. 

I had such a grand time filing with Johanna, sharing laughs and fun with Jenny and Amanda Crabtree the Editor of two exciting new publications Green Craft and Somerset Gift Club. I say it often however it really can be said again, I am so grateful for the journey I am on!

New in Somerset Life

Check out the new issue of Somerset Life the projects and articles are divine. Colors, whimsy and words dance amongst the pages of this wonderful issue.

Although we tend to think of burlap as utilitarian this article blows that theory right out of the water. Jana Holstein put together a lovely article which features artwork from the Bonnes Vivantes - be sure to check out my journal cover an easy and wonderful way to create your own personal notebook.

A glass ornament does not remain a plain glass ornament for long when filled with treasures and baubles of the past. Clearly Captured Memories is a wonderful article full of unique and new ideas for the traditional glass ornament.

Because I was so very fond of the idea of these ornaments I desired a way to leave them on display year round... my darling husband created this quick tree (seen in the issue) to place my treasures upon, a dash of ribbon, a strand of crystals and a few ornaments create the perfect family memoir. A charming idea for sure one that I was so happy to be challenged with.

I find it to be one of the most amazing experiences when friends join together to create. Last winter my dear friend Judy was visiting from afar. While she was here we had a good amount of adventure and fun mixed with creativity and story telling.

Many of you may know the history of little doll parts unearthed from their slumber in Germany. Darling torsos, arms and legs that have been perfectly preserved amongst the soil of the earth.

Judy avidly seeks these little darlings. Seeking them to insure history is passed on to others, as well as incorporating them into artwork that tells the story of the past; a story that must be passed on to the fragile future.

Gifting Ruth and I each with one of these darlings spurred the creative juices and the wheels began to spin within our minds. Soon the three of us were diligently working to create what would become our angels.

A Visit to Stampington In Two Parts

PART ONE

Last week I journeyed to one of my favorite places to visit, Stampington (not once but twice). Many of you know this is a journey that I make often however I have to share something with you......as I make my final turn that will lead me into the parking lot of the office my heart beat rises a bit, excitement floods me and I feel as though it is my first visit all over again.

After spending a bit of time reflecting on this I have come to realize why I feel this way. Stampigton is an amazing place of inspiration and quite frankly talent. From the amazing staff to the artwork that lies behind the front door the entire experience is much like that of attending a party.

On occasion I have had the pleasure of sharing time with fellow artists. This last week was no exception on Tuesday (visit one) I met up with one of my fellow Artsmiths and amazing artist Angela Cartwright. Getting a sneak peek of some of Angela's new and divine pieces was a wonderful treat one which all Somerset reader's will relish and enjoy.

PART TWO

On Friday the journey to Laguna Hills occurred for the second time in the week. This time I was joined by three amazing friends Lorraine George, Deryn Mentock and Ruth Rae. While visiting Deryn and Lorraine enjoyed a tour of the offices.

Oohs and aahs flooded the halls as we were introduced to new and inspiring works from wonderful new artists as well as those we have all come to admire so much. Seeing everything laid out prior to finding it's way into a publication is an amazing experience, a feast for the eyes if you will.
