To say that I had a great time at CKU would be a grave understatement. Admittedly I was a wee bit nervous as for the most part the attendees had absolutely no idea who I was. The days leading up to the event were filled with a dash of anticipation and perhaps even a bit of trepidation however excitement overshadowed both of these feelings. Excitement to work with a new group of amazing ladies who are not only charming but so completely fun to be with. Not to mention who can resist any event that comes complete with a yummy candy bar that also offers up apples and my favorie ginger snaps.
I was beyond honored to teach alongside my dear friend Jen Cushman but also the amazing and so sweet and so REAL Teresa Collins (creator of Inspiration Unlimited where I will be teaching next fall, Michelle Hill creator of Polka Dot Whimsy not only created a darling project but always wore a smile on her face, Megan Hoeppner Creative Editor for Creating Keepsakes Magazine has the most lovely smile and is so dear, Stacy Jullian Founder of Simple Scrapbooks Magazine and Author of 4 books was also on board sadly I did not get to spend too much time with her however from the sounds coming from her classroom next door to ours she was FUN, my fellow Oregonian Samantha Kangas of Technique Tuesday was absolutely charming she has a way of making you giggle and juat want to hang out with her, Jodi Sanford Owner of Fancy Pants designs was so very kind and talented, Christy Tomlinson of Scarlet Lime who shared the most touching story that not only tugged at my heart but planted a seed within in me (thank you Christy).
We were blessed to kick off the event with the UBER talented and inspiring vocalist Hillary Weeks who I was not aware of until last week but will definitely be watching and listening to!
After soaking in mounds of inspiration and energy it was time for Jen and I to help 250 very excited and creative ladies create a background in their bezel and then add a dollop of resin. It was more than great to peer over four banquet tables filled with bezels, an artistic buffet for sure.
Day two was filled with four classes we started promptly and 9 am and wrapped things up at 5 pm. I loved the fact that too many of the attendees jewelry making was a new process not to mention showing off how amazing ICE Resin really is was an extra bonus!
During the giveaway (perhaps one my fav times as I love to see people light up when they are gifted a new treasure), I spied a tried and true Stampington Classic - True Colors. I could not help but smile it was nice to have a little piece of home with me.
Tammy from Fiskars paid us a little visit; another lady who is not only so very kind but so very real! As you can see Jen and I were very thrilled to be the new owners of the Titanium Paper Trimmer (cannot wait for my UPS box to get home with this in it).
Lisa Bearnson founder of Creating Keepsakes Magazine delivered a very charming and touching commencement speech. I must say I was not prepared for the wisdom and encouragement she gifted each of us with.
Needless to say the weekend was not only fun but full of amazing moments and life lessons. I remain honored and so happy to have had this experience as I truly believe it is part of my year of change!
