Coming Up For Air - New Trinkets and Baubles

I have been a busy lady having fun, flitting about and creating new baubles for my Etsy store. So without sounding as though this is one huge advertisement scroll down for snippets of the new trinkets and baubles as well as the well of inspiration I have been recently hit with.

I have always referred to my dear little sister as Birdie as she is the baby bird in the family. Gathering her favorite elements ribbon, crystals and bird image I created this simple piece in to honor her quiet elegance that finds its way into all things she does.

Not a new piece of artwork but a new spin on a favorite. Because of Jane was perhaps one of the most important pieces I ever created as it truly was a huge moment for me to see it on the cover of  Somerset Studio. From an early age I was fascinated with history. World history, the history of fashion and the history of tradition are topics I am enthralled with. Slipping this charm onto a piece of ribbon and adding a few crystals felt like the perfect homage to my inspiration.

It all started with a little Hope. When I created this piece it was not until it was completed that I realized the ledger paper I choose to use as the background had the word "Please" written on it. I think the message is a lovely one applicable to all facets of our lives. My friend Judy often speaks of objects talking to us, finding their way into pieces hmmm I do believe she is correct.

This piece was a hard one for me to part with as it is the first piece I created after taking a jewelry class with Nina Bagley. I had just sent off Because of Jane to Somerset and was feeling a bit nervous about it (little did I know). The Victorian image is adorned with the word "Dream" perhaps a message to myself to let go and follow my dreams. Because I did - follow my dreams that is - I feel it is time that this piece go out into the world, perhaps it may be an encouragement to another who is pondering the path they should take.

Thanks for staying with this long post it's been a long while since I was last able to post my creations and talk about them I must say it was delightful.

A Wee Jane For You

I have the most wonderful adventure to share with you but for now, because of time I am only able to give you a glimpse of my wee Little Jane....otherwise known as a Jane Austen action figure. A gift to myself at the urging of a friend who promised I would hold regret if I did not acquire this darling little trinket (you were right). So for now I must leave you with my wee little Jane who comes complete with writing desk, quill pen and her own copy of Pride and Prejudice. I'll be back next week with tales and glimpses for you all.

Where oh Where has Kristen Gone

Anyone who knows me knows I abide clutter and I really do not like messes.

My art salon is always in order.....okay used to be always in order. So if your wondering where I am perhaps I am buried under yards of ribbon, pounds of glitter, stacks of antique linens or simply on the floor pondering my next move. If you don't hear from me soon send a search party.
